Father Peter's Annoucements

A DIFFERENT KIND OF PALM SUNDAY CELEBRATION and EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION AND YES HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR IT AND PROPOSED ROUTE AT THE END

This weekend we of course celebrate Palm Sunday.  I know that with all that is going awry in the world and in our own backyards…the idea of celebration may be far from people’s minds…but we also know that if laughter is the “best” medicine…it stands to reason…joy is a better medicine since laughter is a by-product of joy.

Perhaps of all the weapons in our Faith arsenal, the one that infuriates the Devil the most is that despite having every reason to be afraid and despair we not only choose hope and joy but actually demonstrate and celebrate it.

If the Devil can be conquered by supernatural joy then let us aim those barbed arrows of grace at this Virus and fire away repeatedly…shouting until the ceilings of Heaven quake with the eruption of our Praise to our King of Kings Jesus Christ…exclaiming with those people who on the very first Palm Sunday rejoiced:

“Hosanna to the Son of David;
blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord;
hosanna in the highest.”

Now as unfortunate as it is that we will not be distributing Palms until Pentecost…that fact should not silence our voices nor our creativity…following the 1030am Mass…Jesus will once again take to the streets of our Parish neighborhoods…

Although walking in the procession is forbidden…coming out onto your porches…front lawns or remaining stationary at a safe distance from others is permissible…that being said, in lieu of a palm…what might you take in hand and from the depths of your soul raise up in exultation and gratitude to and for our Lord and SAVIOR??

Take that moment while viewing the procession or being out to see it, to do some high lifting and praising.  For those of you with kids…lift them high in the air…for those of you with gardens…a bouquet of beautiful flowers or perhaps branches from other trees…lifting high pictures of love ones…living and who have passed… “Hosannah in the highest…food that you are grateful to eat…pets you have…in other words…whatever you feel should be lifted high in joy and praise…be creative…be imaginative…be safe…be healthy…BE HOLY!
