Prayer Intention Basket

Index cards with envelopes are located in the Church vestibule on a table by door. If you have a particular prayer intention, please write it on the card provided, put the intention in the envelope and seal it. Place the sealed envelope in the basket. Each week the basket of prayer intentions will be taken from the back and placed on the altar for each Mass during the weekend, beginning with our Saturday Vigil. After the final Mass on Sunday, the intentions will be discarded to make room for a new set of intentions for the following week. There will then be no carry over of envelopes from the previous week, though please feel free to continue to write the same intention and seal it in a new weekly envelope as often as you would like. The prayer basket will be a visible reminder of the many prayers being offered up during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found bin in the church vestibule (located by the large double doors) is overflowing. If you are missing anything you might have left in church (glasses, rosaries, prayer books, jackets, sweaters, etc.), look for your item(s) in the bin. Please be advised that anything not claimed by Labor Day will be discarded. (Note, the Lost and Found basket is not a donation drop off location).

Welcome Fr. Flynn

It is with a grateful heart that I welcome to our parish, Fr. Michael Flynn as Parochial Vicar. Fr. Flynn comes to us from St. Theresa's in Trumbull where he faithfully served for 11 years. Fr. Flynn is a native of Massachusetts and has served in our diocese for 26 years. Please be sure to introduce yourself and give Fr. Flynn a warm Assumption welcome.

2018 Mass Book

Our Book of Mass Intentions for 2018 is now open. In order to accommodate as many parishioners as possible, there is a limit of 8 Masses, per person or family, for the first three months. Please contact or visit the parish office during regular office hours posted in the bulletin to schedule your Masses. The Mass Intentions are filled on a first come first serve basis. If you have more than 4 Masses (and up to 8), please come to the rectory or email your request. Please note the new 2018 mass stipend amount is $15, which is required for each mass intention requested and is due at the time of scheduling.

     Sanctuary Candle Remembrance

Request for Sanctuary Candle Remembrance for 2018 has begun. It is a beacon to all of the real presence of our Lord in our Church. You can reserve a weekly burning Sanctuary Candle for a special intention or in memory of a loved one. Your remembrance will be offered from Sunday to Saturday. An acknowledgement of your request will appear in our bulletin, announced at weekend masses, and included in the daily mass intentions for the week. The new 2018 stipend amount is $25 and is due at the time of the request. At this time there is a limit of 4 weeks in 2018. Special note cards are available to notify family or friends of your intentions. Please contact the parish office to schedule a week.

Summer Time Hiatus

Please note our 9:00 AM Family Mass will conclude for the summer months and will be celebrated as regular Sunday Mass. Sunday, June 18th will be the last Family mass for this school year. Please watch for an announcement in our bulletin for a start date in the fall.

NEW Parish Office/Rectory Summer Hours

During the summer months of June, July & August our parish office/Rectory will closed on Friday at 12:00 PM. As with any holiday, if you have an emergency, please call the rectory and follow the instructions for emergencies. We will happily respond to all emails and phone messages on Monday.

Supporting Your Parish

We are excited to be working with a local Religious Gift Distributor to offer beautiful and high quality Religious gifts and items. This is a wonderful opportunity to support your parish and at the same time shop for essential religious items. For every purchase made, our parish is given a portion of the proceeds. Here is how it works:

Option 1: Visit www.churchgoods.com, place the items you would like to purchase in your cart. Proceed to checkout and enter the Code #590. You will receive your items in the mail.

Option 2: Visit Patrick Baker & Sons in their retail store located at 1650 West Street, Southington, CT 06489. Mention our church Code #590 when checking out.

Option 3: Call Patrick Baker & Sons directly to place your order at 1-800-243-6385. Mention our church Code #590 when placing order. You will receive your items in the mail.

The Face of Prayer

Are you willing to pray with the Bishop Caggiano every day? Text a selfie, your prayer intention, or the word “pray” to 55778 and join in the journey as we learn more about the power of prayer. Participants will receive a daily prayer intention from the bishop that ends with a call to prayer. The goal of the campaign is to have thousands of people – especially our young church - praying each day alongside the bishop as we grow together in holiness. Be the face of prayer and join today.

 A Guide to Confession

Has it been a while since your last confession? Interested, but worried you don’t remember how to make a “good” confession? Simple pick up “A Guide to Confession” brochure in the rack located in the vestibule for helpful “how to” guidance. Then attend confession offered here at 3:00 PM on Saturdays, or on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM during Lent and on Good Friday 11 AM to 1 PM.

Parish Finance Council

The Council has completed the OLA second quarter review (10-1-16 to 12-31-16) covering statements of financial position and activities. As always, these reports have been filed with the Diocese and are now available to all parishioners. Reports can be found in the pamphlet rack in the church vestibule. Please take home a copy. Our parish continues to be fiscally sound and the Parish Finance Council members join Father Cipriani in thanking you for your continuing support.

Knights In Action

This past week Knights of Columbus Council #11077 made a generous donation to Assumption Catholic School. The donation will assist the school to meet one of its academic goals with the formation of a Computer/Science Program for 7th & 8th Graders in their After-School Program. Students will have the opportunity to construct and program computer driven robots. We are pleased these funds will get this project off the ground.

We will continue to make available copies of each month of the Magnifcat in the church vestibule. The Magnificat is a wonderful companion to refresh, enhance and guide your prayer life with daily mass readings and prayers along with reflections and commentary. We ask that if you take a copy, please make a good will offering in the box provided to off-set the cost of the subscription. Supplies are limited.

Box for the Needy

We are committed to helping our parishioners. Let us reflect on our blessings and graces given to us by God and to look beyond ourselves to those in need. Please consider alms-giving as part of your regular offering to God. It may be as little as your spare change for the week or a bit more if you feel you can. We have a secure money box in the pamphlet rack in the church vestibule. All monies collected will go directly to help those in need in our own parish.

To Honor Our Military

The Knights want to continually update their list and acknowledge those men and women of "OUR" parish family serving in the armed forces of the United States of America. We ask you to submit any new names to us, indicating branch of service and rank. You can submit this information to us in the offertory collection or by calling Fred Coseglia at 203-371-8181

Gift Bearers

What an honor it is to carry the bread and wine to the altar at Mass for consecration! If you would like to bring up the gifts at a mass that is being offered in memory of a loved one, please speak to an usher in the Vestibule as you enter church to volunteer. First priority will be given to these family members. However, any occasion can be a time to serve as a Gift Bearer, so if you are asked by an usher before mass, we encourage you to participate in the celebration of the Mass by presenting the gifts of bread and wine at the altar. There are no special skills or permanent ministerial duty, and yet it is a beautiful and significant part of the Mass performed by lay people.

Online Giving

Did you know that online giving allows you to track your gifts to your church? Your giving history is all recorded in your online account. No need to look at check registers or to wait for a statement in the mail to prepare your taxes. Your information is just a click away. Go to our website and click on the link for Online Giving and create an account.

Did you know that Online Giving makes sure your weekly gift comes to the church even if you were unable to make it to mass? Whether you are away on vacation, or we are hit with yet another snow storm, Online Giving will ensure that your offertory gift is received by your church. Go to our website and click on the link for Online Giving and create an account.

Weekly Flower Offerings

What better way to celebrate someone’s birthday, an anniversary, honor someone or something special, or remember loved ones who are no longer with us by placing fresh flower arrangements on the altar or by tabernacle. An announce will appear in the bulletin to acknowledge your request. Please contact the parish office at least two weeks in advance to reserve any week during the year, except Advent & Lent. The cost of the flowers are $50.00 for the Altar and $30.00 for the tabernacle.

The Use of Parish Support Envelopes

Our parish mails offertory envelopes to households whose members are registered in our parish. Using the envelope system is one way that a parish can verify your participation in weekly masses should you request a sponsor certificate, signed parish affiliation form, sacraments for your child, and the Sacrament of Marriage for adults. When you use the envelopes provided for the parish collections, all your contributions are recorded so that an end-of-year summary may be sent to you for income tax preparation. If you are not sure of your registration status or you currently do not receive weekly collection envelopes, please contact the parish office.
